New LCL services between Rotterdam and Asia
DACHSER's air and sea freight division is significantly expanding its services. This involves new fixed LCL connections between the port of Rotterdam and various ports in Asia with fixed departure times.

The first customers are using the DACHSER Platform for their day-to-day business
The first customers have been working with the DACHSER platform since the end of August. After several intensive test phases, real customer data is now flowing through the system. This way, we learn daily which of the platform’s features are working smoothly and where there is a need for individual adjustments. The feedback helps to improve the platform step by step.
Lunar New Year 2024 - Key dates and impact on logistics
“Year of the Dragon” begins on February 10, 2024. It is the biggest festival in Chinese communities where people celebrate the beginning of a new year with their families.
During the festive period, most businesses and factories in mainland China will be closed, and production will be suspended.
Impact on logistics- Chinese suppliers start to wind down operations one to two weeks in advance of the public holiday. Even though the official holiday only lasts for a week, most factories close for an entire month and some even longer.
- While businesses are closed and there are minimal production from mainland China, carriers will deploy less capacity to and from mainland China.
- Holiday impact is about two months. Therefore, companies that are dependent upon Chinese or Asian suppliers are likely to stock up inventories, this leads to a pre-holiday cargo rush, and it will also take some time after the festival to normalize the market conditions.
- While we try our best to minimize any possible interruptions to your supply chain, you can also help us by considering the following:
- Communicate with your suppliers and customers to make arrangements for sufficient stock and manage expectations
- Discuss your planning with us and prepare an accurate shipment forecast for long-term planning, so we can offer you the most suitable solution that fits your budget and schedule
- Place your booking earlier and pay attention to the cut-off dates.
- For sea freight, it is recommended to book 4-6 weeks before the start of holiday
- For air freight, it is recommended to book 1-2 weeks before the start of holiday

The European Union (EU) has a major goal - to make Europe climate neutral by 2050. In order to achieve this, the EU Commission has created a comprehensive plan of measures called the "Green Deal". European transport modes - and thus shipping, are also included in this plan. According to the Green Deal, transport-related emissions are to be reduced by 90 percent by 2050. European maritime transport causes about 13 percent of the total greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector.
Through various measures initiated by the EU and the International Maritime Organization, the industry has already been working for years to reduce the resulting emissions. In order to further reduce CO2 emissions, the EU has decided to extend the European Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) to maritime transport in 2024. So far, this has been an instrument for air traffic in Europe.

Increase of the truck toll rates in Germany as of December 1, 2023
The German federal government is planning to further increase the truck toll on December 1, 2023. Trucks with a gross vehicle weight of more than 7.5 tons are affected. The amount of the surcharge depends on the vehicle characteristics of the respective vehicle subject to the toll.Golden Week 2023 in China
During September 29 and October 6, most business and factories in China will be closed. The week-long holiday in one of the world’s most important economies poses an impact to the international supply chain. Start to prepare now to minimize the possible disruptions.
What is Golden Week?Golden Week is a 7-day or 8-day national holiday in China. Every year the Chinese celebrate the establishment of the People’s Republic of China on October 1. This year, Mid-Autumn Festival falls on September 29 and will combine with National Day Golden Week for a long, 8-day holiday from September 29 to October 6. Traditionally, Chinese people used to take the opportunity to travel for leisure and visit their families in other parts of China.
DACHSER in China, like many other businesses, will be closed during the Golden Week and resume normal operations on October 7.
What will happen during Golden Week?Most businesses and factories will be closed during the week-long holiday, meaning that production will be at halt. Airports and seaports will keep operating but with reduced manpower due to low production volume from factories. Normally government institutions such as customs offices will be closed from October 1 – 3.
Since China, one of the world’s biggest economies and production countries, will come to a standstill for a whole week and factories may not run at full capacity as soon as the official holiday ends, the plunge of production volume would have an impact to the worldwide supply chain.
