DACHSER is transferring its range of logistics services to the digital world. As a company-wide digitalization project, the DACHSER platform is a central building block for fundamentally redesigning the customer experience. At the transport logistic trade fair, customers and interested parties were given their first glimpse of the platform, which will be available to all DACHSER customers from 2024.
From concept to platform: the interface of the new DACHSER platform
For many years, DACHSER has been developing software and systems in-house that are tailored entirely to the needs of its customers. The DACHSER platform is a logical continuation of this philosophy. The platform is currently being developed in an agile project setup, i.e. in direct exchange with selected pilot customers.
Transparent one-stop solution
The DACHSER platform brings together the services of the Road Logistics and Air & Sea Logistics business fields in a user-friendly, modern interface. Supplemented by innovations such as end-to-end tracking across all freight routes, this creates a customized, digital one-stop solution for customers. DACHSER is thus taking a major step toward completely transparent flows of goods and data, especially with regards to intercontinental transports using different modes of transport.
The DACHSER platform is developed iteratively and in direct exchange with customers.
Product development is taking place within iterative testing and development phases. Since the start of the project, intensive research phases have been used to query customer needs and obtain feedback on product designs. Since April 2023, pilot customers have already been working with a first version of the platform. All research results are always incorporated into the subsequent development phase. This way of thinking and working is an expression of an agile, digital mindset that DACHSER is promoting throughout the company as part of its digitization strategy.

Highlight at transport logistic 2023
Insights into the new platform were offered for the first time at the leading transport logistic trade fair in Munich. DACHSER customers, interested parties, and the media were able to learn about the project's vision, development, and timeline roadmap on interactive screens.
Expanding its Life Science & Healthcare capabilities, DACHSER has obtained the Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma) certification from IATA for its Frankfurt airport branch.
Consequences of adverse weather conditions in Spain
Storm Filomena has affected Spain in recent days and especially the Community of Madrid, we would like to give you some information about the restrictions on logistics.
Road Transport:
Difficulties in distribution activities throughout the week, mainly throughout Madrid
Restrictions on access to industrial estates due to accumulation of snow and vehicles
Difficulties in collections, deliveries and shipments to other delegations. Journeys to and from Madrid may suffer significant delays
Traffic restrictions for heavy vehicles (partially open on some roads)
Temporary reduction of long-distance routes between delegations
Air Transport:
MAD airport starts operating slowly but suffers long delays due to canceled flights
Handling personnel are severely restricted and therefore air cargo operations start to run very slowly
Customs operations are giving priority to express shipments
Road access to and from Madrid suffer significant restrictions
During this week, the alert is still active due to very low temperatures (in some places below -10ºC), so please expect strong restrictions and incidents in all transport and distribution services.
If you have questions, please feel free to speak to your DACHSER representative. We hope that the situation will normalize as soon as possible, and we will keep you informed.
The post-Chinese New Year cool down that had been expected has not come to pass. In addition the continuing bottleneck of the North American western ports ties up shipping and equipment capacity enormously. Two weighty reasons stressing the sea freight market, impacting port activities and generating congestion across the global supply chain. Most experts expect this situation to last throughout the second quarter.
Trade Lane Update
Far East – Europe
Westbound space and empty equipment availability (all types of containers) is still tight. After Chinese New Year there has not been a significant drop of cargo and carriers have been facing backlogs.
On eastbound routes, space is getting limited due to blank sailings and the equipment situation remains tight. Carriers are implementing surcharges due to equipment imbalances.
Transpacific
The space and equipment situation in Asia is extremely short and the complete transpacific eastbound trade is facing rollings and delays due to severe congestion along the U.S. West Coast.
Official statistical data shows that less than 20% of the arrivals at the North American west coast ports have been on time since Los Angeles and Long Beach are facing handling problems. More than 60 vessels are anchored in front of the two ports, and more than 15 vessels in Oakland. Dockworkers are still operating with reduced staff due to COVID-19.
This situation is expected to remain critical for at least the next 1-2 months.
For the time being, DACHSER is still recommending long-term planning and asks customers for information about upcoming transports as early as possible so that we can offer the best solution e.g. alternative routings via Seattle / Houston or even via the U.S. East Coast.
DACHSER expedited LCL Service
In addition, DACHSER offers an expedited LCL service from China to the U.S. West Coast which is a reliable alternative for customers to avoid congestion issues.
The weekly scheduled direct expedited LCL service brings average dwell time down from 14-25 days to 3-7 days. Read more details about this DACHSER designed service.
Transatlantic
A strong increase on rates as per April 1 is hitting the market. Carriers are strictly managing space. Equipment availability remains tight and waiting time for vessel space is about 6 weeks.
At Savannah port, some vessels are anchoring for unloading as well. The delay is currently almost 4 days.
The yard is extremely congested and the port continues to move imports to the ocean terminal to make room for incoming imports in the pads.
Carrier contingency programs will also have a significant impact on delays and vessel space shortages from Europe to the U.S. and Mexico, as reduced and suspended services are expected in the upcoming weeks.
