The district free city is situated in the province Guangdong within the Peoples Republic of China. Shenzhen is in the South of the Pearl River Delta and is divided by the Kowloon Peninsula into two halves, the eastern and the western. Shenzhen’s western port area lies to the east of Lingdingyang in the Pearl River Estuary and disposes of a deep water harbour with superb natural shelters. It is approximately 20 sea miles away from Hong Kong and 60 sea miles away from Guangzhou. Today Shenzhen is a modern and prosperous city which is growing almost as fast as Shanghai.
