It is more than 2,000 years old and in contrast to some other cities it has kept a special ambience. Through the city flows the Jinjiang river. In downtown, long and wide avenues flanked by high rising buildings and local shops and stores are dotted with green trees and well-trim flowers. But it is also famous due to its fertile land and agricultural wealth - as well as for its spicy food.
